Become a Wellness Warrior with Weight Neutral Wellness Coaching for Chronically Overwhelmed Moms
You constantly feel exhausted and overwhelmed by ALL THE THINGS. You have trouble balancing all your roles and activities, and never seem to get anything done. You’re constantly doing things for other people, but always forget to take care of yourself. You don’t even want to talk about body image. You crave more balance in your life, but you’re not even sure you know what that means.
I’ve been there.
After I gave birth in September 2016, everything seemed to go wrong at once. I had postpartum depression and anxiety, worsening my pre-existing mental health issues. My chronic fatigue flared worse than it had ever been before, and less than a year later I was diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder.
Adding to the pressure was the fact that my little bundle of joy was actually a little bundle of constant neediness, who has thus far grown into a high-energy whirling dervish. And did I mention that I’m an extreme introvert? By like 117%.
I felt exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, and completely lost to illness and motherhood.
By the spring of 2017 my struggle with my health transformed into a quest for wellness. Everything I read online said the same thing: You can’t pour from an empty cup. You have to take care of yourself first, or you’ll have nothing left to give. To your family, your friends, your work, or anything else that you love.
Self care became my new obsession, and gradually, I started to get better.
Imagine if you were able to transform the chaos in your head into a feeling of calm and confidence. Imagine if you were able to face anything life could possibly throw at you… without just completely losing your shit because you’re already stressed to the max?
Even better: wouldn’t it be amazing if you could sort through all of life’s noise, figure out what’s really important to you, and actually achieve your biggest goals and dreams?
That’s the magic that happens when you take the time to care for yourself.
But self care is way easier to prescribe than it is to actually do, right? And when you’re an overwhelmed mom living with chronic physical or mental illness, it’s especially easy to find yourself feeling helpless and stuck.
As a wellness coach, I help you develop a self care plan that will work for you, even (and especially) when life gets rough. I help keep you focused on your goals and hold yourself accountable. And I help you confront and work through any obstacles blocking you from making the changes you want.
I empower you to transform your dreams into realities.
You’re probably always going to be living with at least some level of chaos. So instead of beating at things we just can’t change, I focus on helping you develop your self exploration and self care skills so that you can find a sense of peace and balance within the disaster.
After working with me you’ll be able to…
“Can I just say… I have fallen down the rabbit hole. Your blog is amazing, and I wish I had read it 12 years ago. Even now I feel it is helping me toward healing I have avoided for the last decade.”
Experience what coaching with me is like, and find out what wellness coaching can do for you!
I’m a queer, fat positive wellness coach, chronic illness warrior, and mom. I empower chronically overwhelmed moms to take better care of themselves, so they can face life’s disasters with resilience and reach their big goals.
I have a B.A. in Sociology & Social Thought, and an M.S. in Criminal Justice. Since 2010 I’ve taught various college level courses in sociology as an adjunct lecturer. My favorite studies revolve around intersectional feminism, women’s rights, body politics, and social justice.
In 2017 I decided to start a blog as part of my postpartum healing process. My hope with One Happy Disaster is to inspire you to take care of yourself with the same love you reserve for everyone else. By writing about how I’ve learned to handle the disasters in my life
with grace and poise by the skin of my teeth, I hope I can help you find the happiness in your own disasters, too.
Self care and wellness changed my life, and I can’t wait to share that with you!
Schedule a free Discovery Session, and I’ll help you figure out how to do just that!
What makes coaching different from everything else I’ve tried?
Look, I get it. I’m a pretty skeptical person, too. I’m especially suspicious of anything sold on TV (as an adult I’ve realized my Mom just told me it was all garbage so I wouldn’t ask her to buy things), but that’s beside the point.
A lot of people are skeptical about coaching because it promises to change your life. And we’re surrounded by people and products promising to change your life. The unfortunate fact is that most of these things… are really just things.
Buying a new planner isn’t going to make you more organized or productive. Buying into a weight loss program isn’t going to make you enjoy spinach and jogging.
We spend so much money on these things, hoping that they represent the beginning of a big change in our lives. But inevitably the things just sit there, mocking us and collecting dust.
So how is coaching different?!
It’s different because coaching is about self-exploration, figuring out what you really want, identifying what’s getting in your way, and creating a plan to overcome your obstacles.
As a coach, I’m not offering you something outside of yourself that will fix your problems. I’m offering to help you figure out what’s really holding you back from living a happier, more balanced life. And I promise it’s not a new planner, even though I’m a total geek for office supplies.
I’m offering to help you find the solution that’s already inside you.
If it’s already inside me, why haven’t I been able to do it by myself?
You probably keep thinking: I just need to eat healthier food, and go to bed earlier, and get up earlier to work out. Maybe you even start doing it, and manage to stick with it for a couple days or even a couple of weeks.
But then something happens, right?
You get busy again. Someone gets sick. Your symptoms flare. Everything else just feels so urgent, so much more important. You get tired and overwhelmed, and those new healthy habits are the first thing to go. And you wind up right back where you started. Stuck, and feeling like a failure.
But you’re not a failure, and it’s okay to need a little help. I encourage you to explore what’s keeping you at a standstill, and empower get you unstuck so that you can keep moving forward beyond those couple of weeks.
Okay, but I just can’t add one more thing on my plate right now.
You’re overwhelmed and exhausted. You barely have time for the things you’re already committed to right now, and adding even one more thing sounds like it might push you over the edge.
But plowing forward, desperately hoping something will get better isn’t working, is it? You never get anything done, and you’re starting to lose hope that you’ll ever achieve those big dreams.
I can help you! Coaching is designed to help you work through the overwhelm, prioritize the plates spinning above your head, and move forward.
And the best part is that coaching really doesn’t take a lot of time. Each session is only about 45-60 minutes, and can be planned around your schedule. How often we meet is up to you. I recommend once a week, but sometimes life just doesn’t make that possible.
We’ll work together to figure out a schedule that works for you.
That all sounds great, but isn’t coaching pretty expensive?
How much money have you spent this year on things that you hoped would make your life easier, happier, or more fulfilled? If you’re anything like me, the answer is “I’m too lazy to actually figure it out, but a lot.” I especially don’t want to think about how much I’ve spent on clothes this year. *shudder*
I’ve already explained how coaching is different. It’s not another quick-fix product. Coaching is a true investment that can actually change the way you see yourself, and help you become the person you want to be.
So what’s that worth, in the grand scheme of things? Can you really afford not to try?
Just exactly what happens during a Discovery Session?
A Discovery Session gives you the chance to experience what coaching with me is like. While it is shorter than a regular session (30-45 minutes), this is not a watered down coaching sample. After taking some time to get to know each other, we will spend the rest of our time discussing your goals and working together to create a plan of action that you can start on right away!
At the end of your session, if we both agree that we’re a good coach-client fit, I’ll get to work creating a coaching package that I think is the perfect fit for your situation.
Do you have other questions or concerns? Let's talk!
“Priceless! Wisdom and support from one who knows. Heartfelt thanks.”
I can’t wait to hear your story, and help you transform it into your own happy disaster.
